Then I started publishing mainly on this blog for free, and got about 3,000 readers for each of my stories. Some of the really popular ones, like Momdom/CFNM "Pool Days" got up to 8,000. But I found myself only making the time to write about 3-4 stories a year.
So I'm looking for a middle ground.
I estimate that bringing in $500-$1,000 a month would be enough for me to put in the work to produce a 10,000 word story like "Pool Days" each and every month. That's 12 stories a year, about a 4x increase from what I'm doing now.
And that's if 1,000 of my 3,000 readers (33%) go with me to Patreon to pledge $1 a story (basically $1/month) to make that happen.
The question is, are there that many of you out there who would give $1 for a new, fun, P.F. Dee femdom short story each month? Especially if you got to vote on the subject?
Here's how I'm thinking the Levels might work:
- $1- The Reading Tier: You get to read ALL the fun femdom stories I publish through Patreon.
- $5- The Voting Tier: And you get to VOTE each month on five selected ideas, to choose which will become the story of that month. (And unlike American politics, I'll put in term limits to make sure there's some variety of selection in the voting choices.)
- $10- The Producer Tier: And you get to submit the story ideas/themes/situations that I'll select to become our five voting candidates every month, and help me choose the cover pictures for each story, and possibly name the main characters, and even get access to unpublished P.F. Dee stories from time to time, from my secret archives!
Three tiers. Simple, easy, and accessible to all. And if a third of you follow me to Patreon, it just might work out for us all.
I haven't decided if I'm doing it yet, just testing the response right now, so what do you think? Have any better rewards to suggest? Any other levels? Comment below.

If you want to monetize more I've nothing against it, but you're not gonna get 3% let alone 33%. I'd advise trying to attract more readers if you hope to get near the figures you're thinking of, I don't know where your discoverability is other than od.com otherwise smashwords might be your best bet.

ReplyDeletePersonally I wouldn't pay more than 5$ per month for stories, and that is stretching it. A more likely scenario will be pay the minimum amount to get all the stories ie. 3$ or 1$, read All the stories. Cancel subscription. And then wait for them to mass up again, or if I see a title that intrigues me and then pay again and cancel.
Now about those numbers. I'm not sure the numbers are ok. If you say 33% is about 1k-3k of your monthly visits of different people on this blog, I'm not so sure. I know I check this blog daily to see if there are any news, it takes a second and then I go away. So monthly i give you at least 30 views, and I doubt I'm the only one. I have no idea about your book sales but they would be a more accurate show of different people who visit/pay. I suggest you put up a different poll: How much would you pay? : 0$, 1$, 5$, 10$. And then count the votes.
One last thing. The only thing i support on Patreon is a kink game, not femdom/OD but still fun, with a different cast of characters and paths to explore. Have you thought about something like that? Doesn't have to be a game per se, maybe a big Choose your own adventure type of thing. Something that has different characters and different paths so each play/read through can be different. Each update and addition (add a new character, progress a certain story-line, add a new feature,...) would feel new and interesting. That is something i would be willing to patron.
And as a final note, I love your stories and do want to read more, even if I have to pay from now on. All the best!

I wish there was a way to sort out "just checking in" readers from "new readers", but for reference, this week 97 people clicked on this blog post, but 62 clicked on "Pool Days #1" and 67 on "Cocksitter's Club #1", so I've gotta believe those are new hits, not people checking on on stories years old.

A CHYOA could be fun? Play as whoever add Characters like Mother, Sister, Neighbor, Girlfriend,... and make paths with different kinks for each character. One is strict, other is playful, third is a man-hater,... And everybody can pick their own path(Dom). Will they let you cum? Do you want to cum? Did you make them happy or angry? Would be interesting to see.

ReplyDeleteThat seems more direct, but like I said, I sell ~100 ebooks for each edition, reach about ~1000-3000 people per each free short story, so I'm looking to do more than ebooks will let me. But the books are much more work to format, and I can write the short stories faster and constantly update them.

DeleteWell, as I said over on OD, I didn't take to Patreon very well, but if you can make it work, good on you. Just know that they can sometimes get up in arms over adult content out of no where. When I was posting, I checked ahead, and they said there was more leeway for text stuff, it was images and videos they were really worried about, but you never know when they're going to change their minds.

If you want to have stable Pateron income, I suggest focusing on getting more readers before monetizing.

Your weakness is you niche subject-matter. Even within femdom, many won't even give you a chance if family-dynamics/gender swaps aren't their thing.
You're good enough at writing that you will still stand-out and get a larger following if you write more vanilla stories on more popular platforms. Many of those followers will give your more niche stories a try and like them.
Not sure how much to tone-it-down. Too much and it's generic (and not fun to write), too little and you don't have broad appeal. It's worth experimenting and my guess is the balance is with short/creative-stories with generic t&d femdom.
This is really good advice! Incest seems to be a high category on Literotica, but mostly 'willing mom fucks son' or 'willing dad fucks daughter' stories.
